The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

What is GDPR?

The GDPR is the European Union’s new data privacy law. It provides you with specific rights over your personal data including a right to access, correct, delete and restrict processing of your data. These regulations were approved by the European Union (EU) Parliament on 14th April 2016. They come / came into effect on 25th May 2018.


How does GDPR help protect your personal data?

The GDPR applies to the processing of data carried out both by organisations who operate within the EU and to organisations outside the EU who offer goods or Services to individuals within the EU. Under GDPR all European organisations who collect, store and / or process your personal information must adhere to each of the regulations covered by GDPR which apply to their business and the way it handles your personal data. GDPR regulations specifically require that we (and other companies) take steps to help secure your data rights and to protect your data.

What information do we collect about you and how do we use it?

When you purchase something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect any personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system which also enables us to optimise the way our site displays on your device. If you consent we may also send you emails about our store, new Products, our periodic newsletter and other updates.

How do we get your consent?

To keep track of cart data, WooCommerce makes use of 3 cookies:

The first two cookies contain information about the cart as a whole and helps WooCommerce know when the cart data changes. The final cookie (wp_woocommerce_session_) contains a unique code for each customer so that it knows where to find the cart data in the database for each customer. 1.   Will ICEID be ready for GDPR compliance by 25 May 2018?

We take data privacy extremely seriously and we have invested significant resources to ensure that our core produccts and services are compliant with applicable data privacy laws and that wider data privacy risks are effectively managed.  GDPR compliance as an ongoinng process and we will continue to meet our GDPR compliance requirements on a ongoing basis.

2.  Does ICEID maintain a a records of processing inventory?

We maintain appropriate records of our processing activities involving personal information which will provide us with a view of where we collect, use, retain and disclose personal information across our business which we keep updated.

3.   Do you have proesses in place to comply with requests from individuals to exercise their rights to (i) access, rectify, or erase their personal data; (ii) object to, or restrict, the processing of their personal data; (iii) object to the automated processing (including profiling) of their personal data; and (iv) the data portability of their personal data?

We have in place standard operating procedures to ensure that we can carry out all requests as set out above.

4.   Do you have appropriate technical and organizatiuonal measures in place to meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ensure the protection of the rights of the data subject?

We have procedures and technology in place to ensure data security. We have training programs to make our staff aware of their responsibilities for the protection of personal data.

5  Does ICEID have a retention policy?

ICEID will retain data  in accordance with its legal, regulatory and record keeping obligations. We have processes to securely erase data in accordance with our record retention schedule which is set out in the Privacy Notice.

6. Does ICEID have in place a process for immediately reporting a data security breach?

We have in place robust processes to ensure that data security incidents are identified and responded to effectively, which ensure we comply with our legal, regulatory and contractual requirements as regards notification of those incidents.

7.  Do you currently have a Data Protection Officer or other such emploee responsible for Data Privacy and Information Security?

After carefully consider the requirement under GDPR we have established that we are not required to not required to appoint a data privacy officer however we have appointed a data manager whos focus is on data privacy matters.

8  Does ICEID operate as a data controller or data processor?

ICEID operates in its capacity as a Controller.
